Ligatures?

Assuming I would create ligatures for my typeface I began the simple process of putting two letters together to make one. Imagining how creative my ligatures could be with the connections was great, but then, bringing myself back to the brief, I realised that my font was to be based on Helvetica and my problem to solve was to add character to the existing assets of that font. Not creating new ones. Therefor ligatures are a no go, as they are not assets in Helvetia Bold.
