Peer Evaluation

Contextual Understanding
Look into kinetic typography and think about the way in which they animate type
Do you need to make it clear that it is 'Top 10' according to Simon Garfield?
Look into BBC Four and the TV programmes which are shown.
Good range of type in title sequences
Good looking at whats good/bad about each font.
Look at how fonts are used in bad places.
Look at type being broken down in animations - could use to break down font to show bad elements.
More range of research into what fonts are bad other than just one book.
Look at other professional opinions on fonts - interview tutors?

Concept Development
Use BBC Four as channel which it will be viewed on as this is a documentary channel.
COnsider the tone of voice and whether it is appropriate to your audience, is it educational or informative and who wants to know?
How will the title sequence and idents be consistent.
Good idea loads of possibilities
What channel would it go on? Look at tone of voice of film 'Helvetica' and what channels showed it? Discovery?
Doesn't have to be digital, could be about how fonts are badly used in real situations.
Why is each font bad?
Could look at the history of fonts. Why they were made, how they have been misused. Papyrus was used in Avatar, was it suitable?
Where is Comic Sans?
Comedy approach maybe.

Visual Development
Will the typefaces be drawn? Experiment with vector, line drawings or cutouts.
Consider the colours
Maybe think about personification of the typefaces eg. a bold typeface may be strong.
Will the typeface be written in that typeface eg. arial written in arial.
Consider composition on the screen and how will the type be animated.
Will it be image/collage and how will the type stand out from the background.
Need storyboards, colour, backgrounds, sound, get crackin! You lost out on time so need to catch up.
How will type move
How will interact with type.

Additional Comments
Think about the point size and legibility. Also length of time it will be on screen for.
Look at movement and depth of perspective with type.

Action Plan
Look at other opinions on bad fonts
More visual experiments
Storyboards - What situations will the type be in
Decide tone/channel, humour, serious?
Colour and sound
