Juxtaposition

By hand I have experimented with showing good and bad through small illustrations inside varying typefaces. My inspiration has come from many different sources from old books to studios in the web. DC has more.

I want to show "Hate Week' as a good thing, when clearly by the name, it is not. By illustrating the type to make it look positive I hope to achieve this juxtaposition which can be used across my range consisting of a poster, banner, gin bottle, cigarette packet and animation.

After telling more people what I was doing I got pretty worried about my concept. It seems that unless you have read 1984, my project makes no sense. Everything is fictional and I find it very difficult to explain things!

I found John and asked his opinion. He suggested I take my own spin on it instead of doing what is expected... this really lets me play around with juxtaposition which is a method I want to explore. He thought it was a good idea and that I should go with it. He also suggested I start by copying a paragraph of the book as an introduction to my work, this really helps me to communicate the brief to people who have not read the book.

I feel alot more confident in my concept and brief as a whole now!
